OPUS Building Services and OPUS Medigas join forces to speed up ward refurbishments
Work on the 4 wards will be completed over 22 weeks - with work on 2 wards running simultaneously and each ward remaining fully operational for 20 out of the 22 week period.

Managing Director Gavin Richardson commented; “We are now one of the leading specialists when it comes to the complex and challenging projects that health care institutions require. Opus’s work experience has covered all the hospitals in the North East of England and we are now one of only four companies in the UK on the national frame work set up by London NHS procurement portal.”

Opus Building Services provide specialist electrical, heating and plumbing services across a range of sectors. The company has established an impressive track record in the health sector from modern office accommodation to critical care installations such as high dependency and intensive care units and will be involved in the installation of all new mechanical and electrical building services throughout the wards including stripping out of existing services.

Opus Medigas, which is also based in Boldon designs, and supplies and installs gas delivery systems and equipment needed to get medical gas to patients in medical settings or labs will also supply all the critical to life gas and air services for the wards.

Bryan Wood-Laine, MD of Opus Medigas added “As an independent installation company we are able to offer clients a much more cost-effective approach by not being tied to one specific component supplier so can offer substantial cost savings..”
